Traveling within Utrecht

Utrecht has good public transport. Buses go to all kinds of destinations in the city or just outside of it. Please note that you will need a chip card, which you can buy at the train station or in all kinds of shops. You load the card and check in and out at the gates (see picture on the left). Please let us know if you cannot find your way. There are also cabs, which are somewhat more expensive but are adequate if you want to get from Utrecht train station to your accommodation. If your accommodation is really close to the city center, you could even walk to your destination. From the train station, cross the big shopping mall of Hoog Catharijne to get to the historic centre. Your main orientation mark will always be the Dom tower, which can be seen from virtually anywhere in Utrecht (and outside of it). The location of Dom tower is right next to the conference venue. If you want to go Dutch, you could rent a bike. However, take great care here, because cycling in The Netherlands is not for the faint-hearted.
